Provisions 3.o
Car Camping Essentials — Overlanding used to mean something. It was about exploration, about self-reliance, about the space between here and there.
Now it's hashtags, rooftop tents in mall parking lots, and gear you don’t actually need.
Forget it.
I’m calling it what it always was: Car Camping. No ego. No pretense. Just the right tools to get farther, stay longer, and move smarter.
Here’s what actually earns a spot in my truck:
Uncharted Supply Co. Zeus Air: Compressed Confidence
A dead battery used to mean a long walk or a long wait. Not anymore. The Zeus Air from Uncharted Supply Co. is the jump starter I trust to wake up a dead truck without needing backup. Light enough to stash, powerful enough to kickstart a big diesel, and smart enough to double as an air compressor when you need to air back up after running low pressure on rough tracks, it also serves as a power bank and light. It’s the kind of insurance you only appreciate the minute you need it. Before the Zeus Air, I had used the Zeus Battery Jumper for years, usually getting strangers out of a jam, however, the peace of mind when you solo travel that you can jump your own vehicle is priceless. The compressor works as a backup for my ARB Compressor.

Jetboil: Fast Fire, Anywhere
There’s no romance in waiting longer than you need for boiling water at 11,000 feet. Jetboil fixes that. Compact, brutally efficient, and field-proven, it’s the stove I throw in every kit, no matter how stripped down. Coffee at dawn, ramen in a whiteout, instant morale boost. Jetboil is one of those rare things that makes any day outside better without slowing you down. I currently have two, one is at least 15 years old.
Step 22 Gear Organizers: Systems, Not Chaos
When you live out of your vehicle, chaos is the enemy. Step 22 gets that. Their modular organizers are built like expedition gear, with overbuilt zippers, tough materials, and intuitive layouts that work whether you’re pulling a med kit on the side of a trail or digging for your spare headlamp at midnight. There’s a system to it, a flow. Good gear makes you faster, calmer, and more ready. Step 22 gets you there.

Pelican Cases: Vaults on Wheels
Dust, water, impact—none of it matters if your gear’s locked inside a Pelican. Cameras, hard drives, satcomms, tools, even backup layers—I’ve thrown everything into Pelicans and they’ve never let me down. It’s peace of mind in a world where one broken case can end the trip early. On the road, security isn’t just about locks. It’s about resilience. Pelican figured that out a long time ago.
